Consolidate Credit Cards With Other Credit Cards
There are a few different ways that you may be able to consolidate credit cards and make your debt more manageable. The first thing you should try is to do it on your own. By shifting all your balances around, and transferring them all onto one card, you will have organized all your debts into one basket, making the month end payment period a lot more simple. You should make sure you shift the balances to the card with the lowest interest rate, but that should go without saying. There are also credit cards out there that specialize in helping you consolidate credit cards. These cards allow a higher credit limit, allowing you to transfer large sums to the card. They also usually offer a much lower interest rate than do regular cards, some as low as 3.9% APR. These types of offers you need to be careful when joining into it. Make certain the low APR rate is not introductory, or you will be stuck with a new card, a high balance, and back to where you were trying to run from.

Professional Consolidation
The more popular method to consolidate credit cards is a debt consolidation loan. You do have several options to help on your fight against debt. First is the unsecured consolidation loan. This is a simple loan which does have benefits made especially for consolidation purposes. You will need a balance that is equal to all your credit card debts, which will be used to pay off all of them, relieving you of multiple debts from different lenders. Not only will you have organized your finances by consolidating, but you will also get a reduced interest rate. Consolidation loans usually carry a lower interest rate than do credit cards, making balances more manageable on a monthly basis, and also allowing you to pay down your balance faster than if it were with multiple lenders on high interest rate cards.

Because a consolidation loan is similar to another loan, there may be issues in receiving approval for the loan if you have had credit issues in the past, however there are ways around this. By taking out a secured consolidation loan, where you put up collateral against you loan will facilitate the process. Home equity is the most common type of collateral against consolidation, but can be dangerous. If you have payment problems, lenders do have the right to take possession of your home.

When you consolidate credit cards, it can make your life a lot simpler, but it’s not for everyone. Do some research on everything from how to consolidate credit cards, to how to choose a company to do business with. It may seem tedious at first, but the benefits will highly outweigh the drawbacks when all is said and done. It is in fact, you money you are dealing with, and you want to be as careful as possible.
